Later, we will continue our journey to the Valley of the Roses, where roses are grown to produce various cosmetic and perfume products. We will end the day in the Dades Valley, where we will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel next to the Dades River.
RESUMEN DEL DÍA
After a delicious typical Moroccan breakfast, we leave the Dades Valley towards the Todra Valley, where the magnificent Todra Gorges, with a height of 300m next to the river and an oasis of palm trees, are located. It is very common to find street vendors offering you djellabas, a traditional Moroccan robe with a hood worn by Berbers and Arabs. We continue our route to Erfoud, known for its rich fossil deposits and often referred to as the «Fossil Capital of the World.» And we arrive at our destination! The Merzouga Sahara. There, camels await us to take us through the dunes while the sun sets, until we reach the tent camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Prepare your cameras because you won’t be able to stop taking countless photos. Once the sunset is over, we will enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner, and later, before going to sleep, we will share the traditional Berber celebration with songs and drum music, all under a beautiful starry sky. We will sleep in a fully equipped haima (or tent). Note that depending on the time of year, when the day is shorter, the route may vary to ensure we arrive in time to enjoy the wonderful sunset in the desert.
After a wonderful night in the desert and a hearty Moroccan breakfast, we head back to Fez, passing through the city of Rissani, an important city in the trans-Saharan trade routes and the former economic capital of Morocco from the 8th to the 14th century. We will visit its important traditional market, which is particularly famous for its donkey parking, where traders and locals still use donkeys as a means of transport. After finishing our visit, we continue our route towards the Ziz Valley, passing by the palm grove and making panoramic view stops of the valley. We will arrive at Midelt, the city with the highest apple production, and continue to the cedar forest, Michlifen, where we will find monkeys originally from Gibraltar and the possibility of feeding them and taking photos. From here, about 10km inside the forest, we will reach the city of Ifrane, called the Moroccan Switzerland because of its houses and roofs that resemble a Swiss village. And finally, we will arrive in Fez, where we will drop you off at your accommodation or the airport, and this is where your journey with us ends. We will say goodbye until next time, as you always return to Morocco, and we hope it will be with Conocer Marruecos.
